FAQHunger and Relief

The world produces enough food to ensure every person a healthy and productive life; yet more than 800 million people suffer from starvation and malnutrition—more than the combined populations of the United States, Japan and the European Union.

As many as 17 million children are born underweight and underdeveloped every year because their mothers are so malnourished. This inheritance of starvation is halting development of children, communities, and nations around the world. Every year that this cycle of chronic starvation continues, 5 million children will lose their lives.

Gandhi World Hunger Fund is targeting the victims of natural disasters, displaced people, the world’s poorest people, and especially women and mothers to deliver the help they need to survive.
